1. Introduction and Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to Raththran Jewellers.
These Terms and Conditions govern access to and use of the Raththran Jewellers website, online services, product inquiries, jewellery purchases, custom manufacturing requests, old gold purchasing, exchange services and other services offered by our business.
By accessing or using our website, submitting an inquiry, requesting a quotation or placing an order, you agree to these Terms and Conditions, subject to applicable laws and regulations in Sri Lanka.
If you do not agree with these Terms and Conditions, you should discontinue use of the website.
These Terms and Conditions should be read together with our applicable policies, including our Privacy Policy, Returns, Exchanges and Refund Policy, Old Gold Purchase and Exchange Policy, and Payment and Delivery Policy.
2. About Raththran Jewellers
Raththran Jewellers operates in the jewellery trade, including the sale of gold and silver jewellery and related products and services.
Depending on availability, our services may include:
- Retail and wholesale jewellery sales.
- Gold and silver jewellery inquiries.
- Custom-made and specially ordered jewellery.
- Jewellery exchange services.
- Old gold purchasing and valuation.
- Information about gold and silver prices.
- Product-related customer service.
The availability of individual products and services may vary.
3. Customer Information and Accuracy
Customers must provide accurate, complete and up-to-date information when submitting inquiries, placing orders, arranging deliveries, making payments or requesting other services.
Customers are responsible for checking the accuracy of the information they provide, including their names, contact numbers, email addresses, billing information and delivery details.
Raththran Jewellers may contact customers to clarify information, confirm orders, verify transaction details or arrange delivery and collection.
Where identification or additional documentation is required by law, customers may be asked to provide the relevant information before a transaction is completed.
We will handle customer information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable legal requirements.
4. Product Descriptions and Photographs
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that product descriptions, photographs, specifications, weights, purity information and prices displayed on our website are accurate.
Minor variations may occur due to photography, lighting, display settings, manufacturing methods, finishing processes or individual product characteristics.
Product photographs are provided to illustrate the design and appearance of jewellery. They may not always represent the exact dimensions, colour appearance or finish of the physical item.
Customers should review the stated product specifications and request clarification before purchasing if any detail is important to their decision.
Nothing in this section permits us to misrepresent a product or avoid responsibility for supplying goods that do not conform to applicable legal requirements.
5. Gold and Silver Purity
Jewellery may be offered in different purity grades, including 18K, 21K and 22K gold, where available.
Purity descriptions refer to the gold content of the relevant material. For example, 22K gold nominally contains approximately 91.6% gold.
The purity of an item should be confirmed through its applicable product information, documentation, marking or appropriate verification where necessary.
Customers should confirm the stated purity and other material specifications before completing a purchase.
Raththran Jewellers will make reasonable efforts to ensure that purity information supplied with products is accurate and consistent with applicable requirements.
6. Jewellery Weight and Manufacturing Variations
Jewellery weight may vary depending on the design, size, manufacturing method, finishing and approved modifications.
An estimated weight provided before manufacturing may differ slightly from the final weight.
Where the final weight affects the selling price, the applicable calculation or revised price will be communicated to the customer as appropriate before the order is finalised.
Customers should confirm any agreed weight tolerance, purity, design requirements and pricing arrangements before authorising custom manufacturing.
7. Gold and Silver Pricing
All website prices and quotations are expressed in Sri Lankan Rupees (LKR), unless expressly stated otherwise.
Gold and silver prices may fluctuate due to international precious metal prices, foreign exchange rates, local market conditions, supply and demand, and other relevant commercial factors.
Accordingly:
- Website prices may be updated without prior notice.
- Prices shared on social media or in earlier quotations may become outdated.
- An indicative price does not guarantee the final selling price unless it has been expressly confirmed for the transaction.
- Making charges, delivery charges, applicable taxes and other disclosed charges may apply.
- A price may need to be reconfirmed before an order is accepted if market conditions change.
Where a pricing or calculation error is identified, we will notify the customer and explain the available options.
We will not knowingly use a pricing error to avoid obligations under a binding transaction or applicable law.
8. Making Charges and Other Costs
The total cost of a jewellery item may consist of the precious metal value, making charges and other applicable costs.
The final price may depend on the design, weight, complexity, finishing, customisation, applicable taxes and other relevant factors.
Any additional charges affecting the customer’s total payment should be communicated before the customer commits to the purchase.
Customers are encouraged to request a price breakdown where necessary.
9. Product Availability
All products are subject to availability unless a confirmed order or other binding agreement provides otherwise.
Certain products may require additional manufacturing time, special sourcing or customisation.
We reserve the right to update product listings and advise customers when an item is unavailable or cannot be supplied as originally requested.
If a confirmed order cannot be fulfilled, we will communicate with the customer regarding available options and any applicable refund or other remedy.
10. Online Inquiries and Quotations
Submitting an inquiry through our website, social media, email or another communication channel does not necessarily constitute an accepted order.
A quotation may be subject to confirmation of the product, weight, purity, availability, applicable price and delivery arrangements.
Unless expressly agreed otherwise, a quotation should not be treated as a guaranteed price for an unlimited period.
Customers should obtain confirmation of the final price and relevant specifications before completing their purchase.
11. Orders and Order Confirmation
An order becomes confirmed when Raththran Jewellers communicates acceptance through an appropriate channel, such as an order confirmation, invoice, receipt or other agreed written confirmation.
A preliminary inquiry or unaccepted order request does not automatically constitute a confirmed sale.
Customers should review the order confirmation and ensure that the following details are correct where applicable:
- Product description and design.
- Gold or silver purity.
- Estimated or confirmed weight.
- Quantity.
- Selling price and applicable charges.
- Payment arrangements.
- Delivery or collection arrangements.
- Any agreed customisation.
If an error is identified, customers should notify us as soon as possible.
We may contact customers to clarify order details or verify information before proceeding.
12. Custom-Made and Specially Ordered Jewellery
Custom-made jewellery may be produced according to a customer’s requested design, size, weight, engraving, finishing or other specifications.
Before production begins, customers should confirm the relevant specifications, estimated weight, price, making charges, deposit requirements and expected completion date.
Changes requested after production has commenced may affect the price, delivery date or feasibility of the order.
Cancellation of custom-made orders may depend on the production stage, costs already incurred and agreed terms. Any cancellation conditions or charges must be communicated before the customer commits to the order.
Customisation does not remove a customer’s statutory rights concerning defective, misrepresented or improperly supplied goods.
13. Payment Terms
Customers must pay using the payment methods and arrangements confirmed by Raththran Jewellers for the relevant transaction.
Depending on the order, payment may involve full advance payment, a deposit, a balance payment, payment on delivery or another expressly agreed arrangement.
Any applicable payment requirements will be communicated before the order is confirmed.
Customers should retain receipts, invoices, bank transfer confirmations and other proof of payment.
An order may remain unfulfilled while an agreed payment is outstanding, subject to the confirmed transaction terms and applicable law.
If a payment discrepancy occurs, we will review the available transaction records and communicate with the customer to resolve the matter.
14. Payment on Delivery and Payment Prior to Delivery
Where available, Payment on Delivery (POD) and Payment Prior to Delivery (PPD) arrangements will be governed by the applicable payment and delivery terms communicated for the transaction.
Not all products or orders may qualify for the same payment arrangement.
Custom-made, specially ordered or high-value items may require a deposit or advance payment where this has been clearly communicated and agreed before the order is placed.
Customers should confirm the required payment method, timing and any applicable charges before completing the order.
15. Delivery and Collection
Delivery and collection arrangements will be agreed at the time of purchase.
Customers are responsible for providing accurate delivery information and ensuring that the agreed arrangements can be completed.
Any delivery charges and applicable collection or identification requirements will be communicated where relevant.
Delivery dates are estimates unless a specific date has been expressly agreed.
Delays may arise from circumstances outside our reasonable control, including transport disruptions, severe weather, service interruptions or other unforeseen events.
If a significant delay occurs, we will communicate relevant information and available options.
Responsibility for the goods and any associated delivery risks will be determined in accordance with the confirmed transaction terms and applicable law.
16. Inspection of Products
Customers are encouraged to inspect jewellery and confirm its description, purity, weight and visible condition at the time of collection or delivery, where reasonably possible.
Any apparent discrepancy or concern should be reported promptly.
An inspection at delivery does not remove any statutory rights relating to defects or other issues that could not reasonably have been identified at that time.
Customers should retain the invoice, receipt and any certificates or documents supplied with the item.
17. Cancellations
Customers wishing to cancel an order should contact Raththran Jewellers as soon as reasonably possible.
Cancellation requests should be submitted in writing through our official email address or another written communication channel designated by our business.
Customers should include their order reference, contact details and reason for cancellation where appropriate.
The outcome of a cancellation request may depend on whether the order has been accepted, prepared, manufactured, dispatched or delivered.
Any cancellation charges must have a lawful basis and be consistent with the agreed transaction terms.
Nothing in this section restricts any cancellation rights available to customers under applicable law.
18. Returns, Exchanges and Refunds
Returns, exchanges and refunds will be handled in accordance with our separate Returns, Exchanges and Refund Policy and applicable Sri Lankan law.
Eligibility may depend on the nature of the product, its condition, the circumstances of the request and whether the item was custom-made.
Where a return or exchange is permitted, the customer may be asked to provide the original invoice, receipt or other transaction details.
Returned jewellery may be inspected to verify its identity, weight, purity and condition.
Where a refund is legally due, it will be processed in accordance with applicable requirements.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or restricts a customer’s legal remedies for defective, misrepresented or improperly supplied products.
19. Old Gold Purchasing and Valuation
Raththran Jewellers may provide old gold purchasing and valuation services, subject to availability and applicable requirements.
The value offered for old gold may depend on:
- Verified weight.
- Assessed purity.
- The applicable gold buying rate.
- Non-gold components or other relevant material.
- Applicable deductions or adjustments that have been disclosed.
An indicative quotation is not a final offer until the relevant assessment has been completed and the offer confirmed.
Customers will be informed of the relevant valuation details before agreeing to sell their gold.
The customer may decline the offer before the transaction is completed.
Detailed procedures are set out in our separate Old Gold Purchase and Exchange Policy.
20. Gold Exchange Transactions
Where customers exchange old gold for new jewellery, the old gold valuation and the selling price of the new jewellery will be assessed separately.
The final amount payable or credit available will depend on the confirmed value of the old gold, the price of the new item and any applicable disclosed charges.
Before the exchange is completed, customers should confirm the new item’s design, purity, weight, selling price and any additional payment required.
The exchange will be documented where appropriate.
21. Verification and Lawful Transactions
Raththran Jewellers may request reasonable identification, ownership information or supporting documentation where necessary to verify a transaction or comply with applicable legal requirements.
We may decline, delay or suspend a transaction where there are reasonable grounds to suspect fraud, unlawful ownership or non-compliance with applicable law.
Any personal information collected for verification purposes will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable legal requirements.
22. Product Care and Maintenance
Customers should follow any care instructions provided with their jewellery.
Jewellery may be affected by wear, impact, exposure to chemicals, improper storage, inappropriate cleaning methods or other external factors.
Customers should seek appropriate advice before using cleaning products or methods that could affect the item.
Any warranty or after-sales service expressly offered for a product will be subject to its stated conditions and applicable law.
Nothing in this section excludes rights relating to defects or failures for which the business is legally responsible.
23. Customer Privacy and Personal Information
Raththran Jewellers respects customer privacy and takes reasonable steps to protect personal information.
Information may be collected and processed for legitimate purposes, including:
- Responding to inquiries.
- Processing orders and payments.
- Arranging delivery and collection.
- Providing customer service.
- Maintaining accounting and transaction records.
- Verifying transactions and preventing fraud.
- Complying with legal obligations.
- Improving our website and services.
Personal information will not be sold to third parties.
Information may be shared with relevant service providers, financial institutions, delivery providers, professional advisers or authorities where necessary for legitimate business purposes or as required or authorised by law.
Further information is provided in our separate Privacy Policy.
25. Website Availability and Technical Issues
We make reasonable efforts to maintain the availability and proper functioning of our website.
However, we do not guarantee that the website will always be uninterrupted, error-free or available at all times.
Temporary interruptions may occur because of maintenance, technical faults, hosting problems, connectivity issues, security incidents or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Where appropriate, we may update, suspend or discontinue website features.
Nothing in this section removes obligations arising from a confirmed order or other binding agreement.
26. Acceptable Website Use
Customers must use our website lawfully and responsibly.
Users must not:
- Attempt unauthorised access to the website or its systems.
- Introduce malicious software or harmful code.
- Interfere with the operation or security of the website.
- Use the website for fraudulent or unlawful activities.
- Misuse another person’s personal information.
- Extract or commercially exploit website data without appropriate permission.
- Misrepresent their identity or authority when placing an order.
We may take reasonable steps to investigate suspected misuse and protect our business, customers and website, subject to applicable law.
27. Intellectual Property and Copyright
Unless otherwise stated, the original website content and branding used by Raththran Jewellers, including text, photographs, graphics, logos, product descriptions, layouts and other materials, are owned by or lawfully licensed to the relevant rights holders.
Unauthorised copying, reproduction, distribution, modification or commercial use of such materials is prohibited except where permitted by law.
Product designs and other intellectual property may be protected by applicable copyright, trademark or other laws.
Customers must obtain the necessary permission before using protected material for commercial purposes.
28. Third-Party Websites and Services
Our website may contain links to third-party websites or use external service providers for payment processing, hosting, analytics, communications or other functions.
Third-party services may be subject to separate terms and privacy policies.
Raththran Jewellers does not control all aspects of independently operated third-party services. However, nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes responsibility where it cannot lawfully be excluded.
Customers should review relevant third-party terms before using external services or submitting information to them.
29. Limitation of Liability
Raththran Jewellers will take reasonable steps to provide accurate product information, process orders appropriately and maintain reliable customer service.
To the extent permitted by Sri Lankan law, we are not responsible for losses arising solely from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, such as temporary external service interruptions or unforeseen delivery disruptions.
We will not exclude or limit liability where doing so is prohibited by law, including applicable statutory consumer rights or remedies.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions permits us to avoid responsibility for fraud, misrepresentation or other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
30. Events Beyond Our Reasonable Control
Where performance is affected by events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, severe weather, transport disruptions, government restrictions or widespread service interruptions, we will take reasonable steps to minimise the impact.
Affected customers will be informed where appropriate, and alternative arrangements will be considered in accordance with the circumstances and applicable law.
This section does not automatically cancel an existing obligation or remove any legal remedy available to a customer.
31. Amendments to These Terms and Conditions
Raththran Jewellers may update these Terms and Conditions to reflect changes in business practices, products, website features or applicable legal requirements.
The updated version will be published on our website with a revised effective date where appropriate.
Customers are encouraged to review the Terms and Conditions periodically.
Any changes will apply in accordance with applicable law and will not retrospectively remove rights already acquired under a binding transaction.
32. Severability
If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, that provision shall be interpreted or limited to the extent legally permissible.
If it cannot be enforced, the remaining provisions shall continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
33. No Waiver
A failure or delay by Raththran Jewellers in exercising a right under these Terms and Conditions does not automatically constitute a waiver of that right.
Any waiver must be established in accordance with applicable law.
34. Entire Agreement
These Terms and Conditions, together with applicable confirmed order details, product-specific terms and published business policies, govern the relevant use of our website and transactions.
Where a specific written agreement applies to an individual transaction, the relevant documents should be read together.
If a conflict arises, applicable law will prevail, and the terms will be interpreted accordingly.
35. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Sri Lanka.
Customers are encouraged to contact Raththran Jewellers directly to resolve concerns relating to products, orders, payments, delivery or other services.
Where a dispute cannot be resolved directly, it may be referred to the competent courts or other legally authorised dispute-resolution bodies in Sri Lanka, as applicable.
Nothing in this section prevents a customer from exercising statutory rights or seeking a remedy available under applicable law.
